“Rose-tinted lenses get a bad reputation.
We often use the phrase as though it means ignoring reality or pretending everything is fine.
But I’ve been wondering if we’ve been a little unfair to rose-tinted lenses.
Perhaps they’re not about denying life’s challenges.
Perhaps they’re about choosing to notice the beauty alongside the flaws, the lessons alongside the mistakes, and the possibilities alongside the uncertainties.
As I celebrate another birthday today, I’m finding myself less interested in perfection and more interested in perspective.
To remember the good without forgetting the hard. To extend grace to myself and to others. To stay curious enough to keep learning, and hopeful enough to keep looking forward.
