“Flying home from Best of ASCO 2026 in Abuja, I found myself reflecting on the past few days.
Conferences are wonderful for introducing us to new ideas, different perspectives, and conversations that challenge our thinking.
But the most valuable part of a meeting of minds isn’t always what happens in the lecture halls.
It’s the spaces in between. The conversations over coffee. The debates that continue after the sessions end. The questions that stay with us long after we’ve boarded the flight home.
And then the real work after.
- Making time to revisit the discussions.
- Reflecting on what we’ve heard.
- Challenging our own assumptions.
- Deciding what we will do differently because of the ideas we’ve encountered.
Over the next few days, I’ll be sharing reflections from Best of ASCO Africa 2026, not simply to recap the meeting, but to continue the conversations it inspired.
From access to innovation and technology to implementation, partnerships, and leadership, there is much to unpack.
No doubt, the best meetings don’t end with the closing ceremony. They create immediate momentum that continues to shape how we think, how we collaborate, and ultimately, how we care for patients.”
