Miriam Mutebi: Progress in Health Systems Doesn’t Come from Urgency Alone

Miriam Mutebi, Breast Surgical Oncologist and Assistant Professor in the Department of Surgery at the Aga Khan University Hospital, shared a post on LinkedIn:

“January has a way of sharpening priorities.

If 2025 taught me anything, it’s that progress in health systems doesn’t come from urgency alone.

It comes from discipline: from showing up consistently, from measuring what matters and using it to drive change, from strengthening teams, and from staying with the work long enough to see systems actually improve.

This year, I’m committing to fewer declarations and more follow-through, that is:

Investing in people, pathways, and partnerships that translate intention into impact.

Systems change is slow.

That’s not a flaw.

That’s the work.”
