World Stroke Day and Liver Cancer Awareness Month
Your Liver, Your Heart, Your Brain – One Health, OneLife
As October comes to an end, we unite our voices with all our partners, supporters, and stakeholders to remind everyone that prevention begins within – in the incredible ‘factory’ that cleans our blood and sustains every part of our body: the liver.
The liver, heart, and brain are inseparably connected – when one is affected, the others follow. Liver health is essential not only for metabolism but also for maintaining healthy blood vessels and protecting against cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases such as stroke.
Every minute, the liver filters about 1.5 liters of blood – balancing fats, cholesterol, and glucose. When this process is disrupted, fatty deposits form in the arteries (atherosclerosis), increasing the risk of both ischemic stroke and heart attack. The same metabolic imbalances that cause liver disease can silently damage the heart and brain.
Unite for Multidisciplinary and Multi-Stakeholder Action: Breaking Silos, Building Solutions.
Liver diseases are not only a hepatology issue, they demand a multidisciplinary approach involving hepatologists, cardiologists, endocrinologists, nutritionists, psychologists, policymakers, corporate partners, regulators, patients… working together
Through early detection, integrated care, and coordinated prevention, we can reduce the burden of these diseases across Europe and globally with our friends
For the first time in history, thanks to the EU Cardiovascular Health Plan, EU Health Union, and the EU Cancer Plan, we have strong frameworks and tools to bridge these connections and transform prevention into real impact
The liver cleans your blood, the heart pumps it, and the brain depends on it. Protect one – you protect them all.
With a unified, multidisciplinary, and multi-stakeholder approach, we can reduce the burden of liver, heart, and brain diseases and create a healthier future for all.”
