“A milestone kinda pinch-me moment
From attending online, to standing on stage as one of the speakers at the EORTC – European Organisation for Research and Treatment of Cancer Patient Days in Brussels.
This was my first time representing Digestive Cancers Europe and the marvellous work that we do, and it is safe to say it was nerve-racking!!
My participation focused on Patient Organisations and their vital role in oncology research, and why it is crucial to see patients as equal collaborators in both innovation and research. For us, co-creation means moving from research on patients to research WITH patients. And I made sure to share how much my life has changed since the moment I became involved in this way.
Because involving patients is not just the right thing to do. It makes research stronger, faster, and more relevant. I am incredibly grateful to be surrounded by such brilliant, kind, and committed professionals and advocates. This proud and honoured feeling never gets old.
Together, we move towards equitable, diverse, and inclusive standards in healthcare and research.
Standards that truly serve everyone.
