Mieke Van Hemelrijck: Advances in Patient-Centred Outcomes at ERUS 2025

Mieke Van Hemelrijck, Professor of Cancer Epidemiology at King’s College London, shared post on LinkedIn:

“I’m pleased to be attending ERUS of European Association of Urology in London this week and to present the collaborative work of the EORTC – European Organisation for Research and Treatment of Cancer Quality of Life Group (QLG) during the poster session.

Our abstract, ‘Advancing Patient-Centred Outcomes: Updates on EORTC Quality of Life Questionnaire Development for Urological Cancers’, outlines the development and refinement of disease-specific patient-reported outcome measures for bladder, kidney, prostate, and testicular cancers. These instruments are designed to support clinical trials and surgical outcome reporting, ensuring that patient perspectives are systematically captured and integrated into oncological decision-making.

It’s also encouraging to see a poster presented by Marta Marchetti from The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust who will be joining team TOUR: Transforming cancer Outcomes through Research in October 2025 to begin her part-time PhD. Her research will focus on the implementation of training for emergency scenarios in robotic surgery—an important and timely area of investigation.

Many thanks to all colleagues and collaborators across Europe who continue to contribute to this work.”
