Michelle Peate, Program leader, Psychosocial Health and Wellbeing Research (emPoWeR) Unit, University of Melbourne, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Thrilled to share that I’ve been awarded a Cancer Research Fellowship Victoria from Cancer Council Victoria and the Department of Health Victoria.
My project will develop and test a patient-driven online stepped-care platform to improve menopause care after cancer. Many women experience significant menopausal symptoms (hot flushes and night sweats) following treatment, yet access to effective support is inconsistent, particularly outside major cities.
This fellowship will allow us to run a trial to evaluate a scalable, low-cost digital model designed to empower women to manage symptoms and access the right level of care at the right time.
I’ve heard repeatedly how women feel they are expected to “just cope” after cancer. This research is about changing that – and improving quality of life in survivorship care.
Grateful to Cancer Council Victoria and the Victorian Department of Health for supporting this work, and to the incredible collaborators, clinicians, and consumers who make this research possible.”
