Michelle Mitchell, Chief Executive at Cancer Research UK (CRUK), shared a post on LinkedIn:
“This morning, I had the privilege of joining Deborah’s family and supporters of the Bowelbabe Fund to celebrate surpassing the £20 million raised milestone.
Spending time with her family was a powerful reminder of the determination, honesty and hope that Deborah brought to everything she did. That same spirit continues to bring people together and drive progress.
Thanks to research, more than half of people diagnosed with bowel cancer in the UK will survive the disease. But there is still much more to do, as bowel cancer continues to have a devastating impact on too many people and families across the UK.
Thanks to the £20m raised in Deborah’s name, we are funding vital research that will help us better understand the disease, find new ways to detect it earlier, and develop more effective and kinder treatments. This is how we turn her legacy into lasting change.
To everyone who has donated, fundraised or supported the Bowelbabe Fund – whether by walking, running, dancing or sharing Deborah’s message – thank you. You are part of something that is already making a difference and will continue to do so for years to come.
Deborah’s legacy is not just what the fund has raised, but what it continues to make possible. I feel incredibly proud to see it live on.”
