Michelle Mitchell: Cancer Research UK Annual Report Highlights £173m Investment and Global Initiatives

Michelle Mitchell, Chief Executive of Cancer Research UK (CRUK), shared a post on LinkedIn:

“Here at Cancer Research UK (CRUK) we’re making good progress in our mission to beat cancer and I’m proud to share our latest Annual Report and Accounts highlighting how we’re delivering significant impact for those affected by cancer and their loved ones.

In the last financial year, we’ve achieved some significant advances for cancer research, including a £173m multi-year investment in our Cancer Research UK Cambridge Institute to enable world-class discovery science; the funding for the development of cancer vaccines OvarianVax and LynchVax; and co-launching a global initiative to develop new medicines for children’s and young people’s cancers.

We’re also aware that there are challenges, which is why we’ve been making important decisions to ensure we’re set up for future success and adapting to a changing world.

This kind of progress is only possible because of our incredible community of supporters, volunteers, staff and partners. Thanks to their generosity in we are on track to exceed our £1.5bn research commitment from 2021/22 to 2025/26 and look to the future with confidence and optimism.

We’re working to outsmart cancer through earlier diagnosis and kinder, more effective treatments. Every day, lives are being changed thanks to research and I look forward to seeing what we can achieve in the next year.
