Michelle Kirschner, Clinical Lead and Medical Advisory Board Chairman at OneVillage, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“This piece is written as a direct response to the Lancet Oncology Commission’s landmark report on the human crisis in cancer care. The Commission highlights systemic gaps-fragmented services, poor communication, late or absent integration of palliative care, and minimal mental health support-that leave patients feeling unsupported and misunderstood. These findings resonate deeply with what I see every day in my national work.
As someone who collaborates with cancer programs across the US and internationally, I have a unique vantage point on the real-world barriers that prevent supportive and survivorship care from being fully integrated-and the practical solutions that can change this trajectory. While reports diagnose the problem, my focus is on implementation: how we move from theory to practice, from acknowledgment to action, and from siloed efforts to coordinated, person-centered care.
