Michael Sapienza Has Shared a Paper on Early Patient Engagement in Drug Development

Michael Sapienza, Chief Executive Officer of the Colorectal Cancer Alliance, shared a post on LinkedIn:

“Innovation begins with listening. When we engage patients early in the drug development process, we gain perspectives that strengthen research, challenge assumptions, and ultimately help develop medicines that better reflect the needs of the people we serve.

I’m pleased to share a recently published white paper, Early Patient Engagement in Drug Development: Guiding Principles for Meaningful Collaboration, which includes input from the Colorectal Cancer Alliance.

This publication is the result of meaningful collaboration across Bristol Myers Squibb and advocacy partners who brought their expertise, lived experiences, and commitment to every conversation, including LUNGevity Foundation, ZERO Prostate Cancer, Global Alzheimer’s Platform Foundation, StopAfib.org, Global Healthy Living Foundation, and International Myeloma Foundation.

I am especially grateful to represent our CRC community to ensure that patient voices remain at the center of this work.

Meaningful patient engagement is a mindset that should shape how we approach research, development, and innovation from the very beginning. The principles outlined in this white paper offer a practical framework for building stronger partnerships and creating a more patient centered future that delivers relevant, feasible, and equitable outcomes.”
