Her story underscores a reality we must confront: This disease is the second leading cause of cancer deaths in the US, yet it remains underfunded, stigmatized, and far too often left in the shadows.
At the Colorectal Cancer Alliance, we see every day how stigma and silence cost lives. When people hesitate to talk about symptoms or avoid screening because of embarrassment, lives are at risk. When funding lags behind other cancers, research and treatment innovation are slowed. These barriers are real and we all must play a role in dismantling them.
