“As many as you have seen, I’ve been posting updates about my daughter every few weeks as as we navigate through her cancer journey.
After one of my recent posts, a very nice person whom I’ve never met reached out to me and asked if she could ‘sponsor’ my daughter and send her a special doll via a local organization that supports children with cancer. Of course, I graciously accepted the offer.
Fast forward a week, and all of this showed up at my daughter’s hospital room this afternoon. A mountain of toys (addressed to both of my kids), and even a special hand written note and a gift for the entire family.
The reason I started posting about my daughter is very simple. I want the world to know what she’s going through. That’s it.
I think it goes without saying, but I continue to be blown away by the amount of grace and support so many people have openly provided to my family. For a previously complete stranger to reach out to us, and make this happen, simply because of a LinkedIn post, shows me how great humanity can be.
Thank you Veronica Ramirez Byars for being that very nice person, and for furthering connecting us with the Desi Strong Foundation, who made all of this come together.
It’s already been a beautiful Saturday morning, me and my daughter spending the day at the hospital together, but this made it even better.
