Michael Chuong, Vice Chair and Medical Director of the Department of Radiation Oncology at Miami Cancer Institute, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“10 years ago today, I joined the faculty at the Baptist Health Herbert Wertheim Cancer Institute (the former Miami Cancer Institute). At the time, the cancer center building was still under construction, and the Department of Radiation Oncology as it exists today had not yet been established.
When Minesh Mehta recruited me, he told me that we had the opportunity to build something special. Looking back a decade later, he was absolutely right.
I am incredibly proud of what we have built from the ground up, and to work at a world class institution defined by a commitment to quality, innovation, outstanding patient care, and exceptional clinical outcomes. We have become an internationally recognized leader in advanced radiation therapy, and have been fortunate to recruit faculty who not only lead innovative clinical trials but often design them, helping shape the future of cancer care.
I am grateful to Minesh Mehta, the late Michael Zinner, Leonard Kalman, and so many others throughout the Baptist Health system for their trust, mentorship, and support.
Most importantly, I would not be where I am today without the team around me. The greatest part of this journey has been working alongside colleagues who inspire me, challenge me, support me, and make our shared success possible. I am deeply grateful to work side by side with our remarkable staff as we care for patients who come to us from across Florida and far beyond.
The past 10 years have been incredibly rewarding, and I am so excited for what comes next.”
