“A little story about my breast cancer journey, and why continuous training for healthcare providers matters.
My breast cancer journey has given me experiences I never expected to have, but it has also taught me the importance of knowledge, communication, empathy, and continuous learning in healthcare.
Sadly, many cancer patients are vulnerable to the consequences of delayed diagnosis, misinformation, poor communication, and gaps in healthcare delivery. In many cases, patients can become victims of a system that is not adequately equipped to meet their needs.
This is why I believe that healthcare providers must be continuously trained and retrained.
Cancer care is evolving. New evidence, treatments, technologies, and approaches are emerging, and our healthcare workforce must have opportunities to keep learning and improving.
As a breast cancer survivor and patient advocate, I share my story not to point fingers, but to encourage conversations that can lead to better patient experiences and better health outcomes.
Behind every diagnosis is a person.
Behind every patient is a story.
And every patient deserves competent, compassionate, and informed care.
I share a little part of my journey in this video. I hope it encourages healthcare professionals, policymakers, and other stakeholders to reflect on how we can strengthen cancer care in Nigeria.
