Mel Mann: The Treatments We Have Today Exist Because Patients Before Us Said Yes to Research

Mel Mann, 31-year terminal Chronic Myeloid Leukemia (CML) Survivor, Clinical Trial Pioneer, and Patient Advocate, shared on X:

“Most people only think about medical research when they or someone they love gets sick.

The truth is, the treatments we have today exist because patients before us said yes to research.

I was one of those patients in 1998. A clinical trial turned a 3-year prognosis into 31 years of life.

Medical progress doesn’t happen in a vacuum.

It happens when ordinary people are willing to be part of the answer.”
