Megan-Claire Chase, Breast Cancer Program Director at SHARE Cancer Support, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“I must say, I had a few pinch-me moments at SABCS25. Seeing my words, and my face, so visibly featured in the Novartis US advocacy booth stopped me in my tracks.
I had submitted that piece months and months ago, so reading it again felt like meeting my own story with fresh, albeit very tired, eyes. I sometimes forget just how raw and powerful my writing can be when I allow myself to fully revisit specific and pivotal moments of my breast cancer journey.
This one hit differently. I found myself choked up, tears brimming, because I hadn’t truly reflected on my Stories from the Stage performance that aired on PBS in quite a while. Being reminded of that chapter, in that space, at this moment, was both grounding and affirming.
There is space and a need for creativity in cancerland. Watch full performance.
- This is why I love to write.
- This is why I love being on stage.
- This is why I love public speaking.
- This is why visibility matters.
And this is why I keep showing up, dramatic flair and all, because my story matters and can make an impact on others.”
