A Fighting Chance – Medicaid Cancer Foundation

Medicaid Cancer Foundation shared a post on LinkedIn:

“Last week, Mrs. M walked into our facility in severe distress. She had us all in our toes trying to help in any way we could.

A few months ago, she had received a diagnosis of advanced breast cancer. She had done most of the required investigations yet when it came to chemotherapy she could not afford even a vial.

As her pain worsened, she presented to National Hospital again only to discover that there were no doctors available due to an ongoing strike.

There, someone told her that the only place she could find help was at Medicaid Cancer Foundation.

Upon presentation, we were discovered she had an ulcerating breast cancer. Without hesitation, our team mobilized. Pain medications were provided immediately. Necessary investigations were initiated to determine her next steps.

Referrals were arranged. And crucially, we began the process required to secure her chemotherapeutic medications. through our Patient Access to Cancer Care PACE program.

This is what we do—every single day.

And this work is happening within a fragile healthcare system now strained even further by the ongoing strike by resident doctors.

Patients living with life-threatening conditions, especially cancer, travel long distances to the few centers capable of providing care, only to find closed doors and unavailable doctors.

In this gap, Medicaid Cancer Foundation is doing everything within its power to stand in the breach.

But we cannot do it alone. We need more hands, more resources, and more partners who believe that every life matters, and everyone deserves a fighting chance regardless of socioeconomic status.

October is long gone but the battles our patients face continue daily. Cancer is not a one-time event.

We won’t rest until we walk away cancer.

This is where your donations go. This is the work your generosity sustains. This is the hope you help restore.

Together, we can ensure that when the most vulnerable walk through our doors, they find not despair… but a fighting chance.”
