Lived Experiences of Breast Cancer Survivors After Mastectomy – Journal of Cancer Survivorship

Journal of Cancer Survivorship shared a post on LinkedIn:

“New research highlights the lived experiences of breast cancer survivors in Botswana after mastectomy. Survivors reported challenges across multiple domains:

  • Physical – persistent pain, mobility restrictions, fatigue.
  • Financial – reduced work capacity, financial stress.
  • Psychological – depression, anxiety, body image concerns.
  • Social – mixed support, often shaped by stigma.

Limited access to symptom management and support services makes these struggles even harder.

Interventions enhancing physical symptom management and improving psychosocial support services may improve QOL of survivors across sub-Saharan Africa.”
