Massimo Di Maio, Professor of Medical Oncology at the Department of Oncology at the University of Turin, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Coming to Melbourne involved a very long journey, but it was important to me to honor the invitation to participate in the joint MASCC-ESMO session at the The Multinational Association of Supportive Care in Cancer (MASCC) meeting 2026.
The session focused on “Predicting toxicity risk factors to make excellent cancer care possible“, and I had the privilege of sharing the session with Florian Scotté, Karin Jordan, Hannah Wardill, Alexandre Chan.
In my talk I highlighted the importance of the ESMO – European Society for Medical Oncology clinical practice guideline regarding the use of patient-reported outcomes in patients with cancer.
Shifting from “reactive supportive care” to “predictive supportive care” also means identifying mild and moderate toxicities early – preventing them from worsening and improving patients’ quality of life.”
