Blood vessels in SCLC form a ‘blood-brain barrier-like vascular gate (BVG)’ with thick basement membranes, tight junctions, and pericyte coverage.
The BVG acts as a physical barrier, restricting CD8+ T cell infiltration and causing the ‘immune desert’ phenotype”
