Mary Tanay, Macmillan Consultant Nurse in Genomics at the Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Super late post:
Exactly four weeks ago, I attended European Oncology Nursing Society (EONS) conference with UKONS (UK Oncology Nursing Society) Board colleagues, Dr Karen Campbell, Dr Jo Bird and Mark Foulkes.
EONS18 had an excellent agenda with many opportunities for learning, networking and sharing of views. It was fantastic to Chair two symposia for topics that are professionally relevant and interesting for me.
First, the Precision Oncology session co-chaired with Sara Kohler with speakers Celia Diez de los Rios, ASIMINA PELTEKI and Simon Ekman who brought their enthusiasm in advancing genomics in cancer care and cancer nursing, as well as Nissim Max Frija-Gruman who presented the potential role of AI in psychological triage in cancer care.
Second, an amazing symposium of chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy with speakers – CIPN expert colleagues Elahe Salehi, Hope Rugo and Maryam Lustberg. Continuing conversations about CIPN means this invisible condition is not forgotten.
Dr Karen Campbell presented her work on nurses’ safety when administering Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapies. Mark Foulkes presented an innovative application to practice of the national ACCEND programme for supporting cancer clinical nurse specialist development and progression.
This annual conference brought to us by European Oncology Nursing Society (EONS) in collaboration with ESMO – European Society for Medical Oncology, is a powerful source of continuing professional development for cancer nurses in Europe. A cancer nursing gathering fellow cancer nurses should consider attending.”
