Honoring the Legacy of Martine Van Glabbeke (1951-2026) – EORTC

European Organisation for Research and Treatment of Cancer (EORTC) shared a post on LinkedIn:

“It is with deep sadness that we share the news of the passing of Martine Van Glabbeke (1951-2026), who dedicated 36 years of her professional life to EORTC.

A senior biostatistician of exceptional rigour, Martine played a pivotal role in shaping academic cancer clinical research, with a particularly profound impact on the EORTC Soft Tissue and Bone Sarcoma Group. Her work on practice‑changing trials, meaningful endpoints, and tumour response assessment has influenced clinical trial design worldwide. Through her long‑standing involvement in the Methods in Clinical Cancer Research workshop, she also mentored generations of oncologists and statisticians.

Beyond her scientific achievements, Martine will be remembered as a generous mentor, an inspiring leader, and a deeply kind colleague.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of working with her.
