Marla Selph: American Cancer Society Updates Colorectal Cancer Screening Guidelines

Marla Selph, President at Selph Strategies, shared Selph Strategies’s post on LinkedIn, adding:

“Really important conversation this morning on KPRC 2.

For the first time since 2018, the American Cancer Society has updated its colorectal cancer screening guidelines, reflecting advances in at-home and blood-based testing options and the growing importance of access to screening.

Appreciate Dr. Vipal Durkal with Texas Oncology for helping break down what these updates mean for all of us.”

Quoting Selph Strategies’s post:

“For the first time in 8 years, the American Cancer Society has updated its colorectal cancer screening guidelines, reflecting major advances in at-home and blood-based testing option and the growing importance of access to screening.

This morning, Dr. Vipal Durkal, an ACS spokesperson with Texas Oncology, joined KPRC 2 to help break down what these updated recommendations mean for patients and families.

The conversation comes at a critical time. Colorectal cancer is now the leading cause of cancer-related deaths in adults under 50, underscoring the importance of awareness, early detection, and regular screenings.

Appreciate KPRC for covering this important update and Dr. Durkal for helping break down the new guidelines.”
