Markus Kosch, Head of Oncology in Europe and Canada at Daiichi Sankyo Europe GmbH, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“This week’s World Health Summit and the panel on ‘Breaking Barriers to Advance Women’s Care in NCDs’ were both inspiring and thought-provoking.
Having worked as a doctor, I’ve seen firsthand how inequalities in healthcare affect women – from underrepresentation in research and decision-making to the lack of gender-specific education and awareness.
But I left the discussion encouraged. Awareness of the gender health gap is growing, and with it, a shared determination to close it.
To truly make progress, we must focus on what matters most:
- improving screening and early detection,
- ensuring equitable access to innovative treatments, and
- addressing gender disparities in prevention, diagnosis, and survivorship
Across Europe, initiatives such as Europe’s Beating Cancer Plan, the upcoming EU Cardiovascular Health Plan, and the work of the European Parliament MEPs for Women’s Health Interest Group are helping to move this agenda forward. They show what’s possible when science, policy, and collaboration come together with one goal – improving women’s health and equity in care.
A big thanks to my fellow panelists who are working hard together to make sure every woman receives the care she deserves: Stine Bosse, Ilona Kickbusch, Phoebe Ongadi, Dr. med. Sara Nasser, MRCOG, Alarcos Cieza, Melinda Crane-Roehrs.”
