Mark Lawler, Chair of The Cancer Drug Development Forum and Chair in Translational Cancer Genomics at Queen’s University Belfast, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Delighted to have been invited by Minister of Health for Northern Ireland Mike Nesbitt to co-chair an Advisory Group to implement a Cancer Research Strategic Framework for Northern Ireland.
I praise the Minister for this initiative – it’s the first time we’ve had a Cancer Research Strategic Framework. Make no mistake, this is a pivotal moment for cancer research in Northern Ireland. Cancer research is no longer a “nice to have”. It’s a “must have” in order to deliver 21st century care for our patients. By connecting our scientific, clinical, innovation and patient communities, we can enhance our research efforts, attract investment, and ensure discoveries are rapidly translated into better care and outcomes. I am honoured to serve as Co-Chair to what I believe is a new dawn for cancer research in Northern Ireland.”
