Marielle Santos McLeod, Director of Programs and Advocacy at Cancer Hope Network, shared a post on LinkedIn by Fight Colorectal Cancer, adding:
“There are so many missed opportunities to educate our community and empower them to be champions of their health. Having conversations about the importance of colorectal screening saves lives. There are so many things in our community that are deemed as ‘taboo’ topics. Colorectal screening should not be one of them.
Nalgas are important too! Cenos and próstatas are not the only things that we, as a community, should only be screening.”
Quoting Fight Colorectal Cancer‘s post:
“It’s Hispanic Heritage Month! This month-long observance, from September 15–October 15, is a time to honor and uplift Hispanic voices, stories, and health.
But we still have work to do. Hispanic men and women are screened for colorectal cancer at lower rates than non-Hispanic whites, putting lives at risk.
Everyone deserves access to early detection and prevention – and FightCRC is committed to closing the gap.”
