Marianne Sarcich: Ask Before You Buy Pink

Marianne Sarcich, Founder of Breast Health 101 with Marianne, shared on LinkedIn:

Breast Cancer Awareness Month is almost here. Thank you in advance to everyone thinking of supporting the breast cancer community. The need is enormous, and your help is so very needed.

If you’re planning to buy a pink ribbon product, ask these questions first:

  • Will proceeds actually be donated to a breast cancer nonprofit?
  • Which nonprofit? (And, is it one you’d choose to support yourself?
  • What percentage of proceeds are donated?

Buying pink doesn’t always mean giving. Only some companies with pink ribbon products donate sales dollars to a nonprofit. Sometimes the amount is surprisingly small.

If you want your support to count, consider donating directly to a reputable breast cancer nonprofit instead. Not sure where? Ask me. One of my favorites is METAvivor. 100% of donations it receives fund research grants for metastatic breast cancer, which is incurable. People with this disease are the ones who are dying.

Thank you for taking the time to ask before you buy and for everything you do for this community, all year long.”
