“I have always believed that some of the most powerful changes in pediatric oncology begin with a simple act: sharing what we know with one another.
I’m incredibly proud to be part of the Young SIOP Network and to contribute to the launch of Young SIOP Voices, a new global pediatric oncology podcast lead by Jorge Armando Hernández Campos, and created to connect clinicians, researchers, advocates, survivors, and young professionals from around the world.
Childhood cancer knows no borders, but access to knowledge, resources, research, and treatment still does.
Young SIOP Voices was created as a space to bring those perspectives together, amplify voices from different parts of the world, and have conversations about the science, challenges, inequities, and ideas shaping the future of childhood cancer care.
Our 1st episode, ‘Beyond One-Size-Fits-All: Genetics, Ancestry, and Equity in Hispanic Pediatric Leukemia,’ explores how genetics, ancestry, and social determinants intersect in pediatric leukemia, and why understanding those differences matters if we truly want equitable cancer care.
Even more special, we will be officially launching Young SIOP Voices during the SIOP Congress.
For me, this project represents what global pediatric oncology should be: curious, collaborative, inclusive, and willing to learn from voices beyond our own institutions and borders.
Because improving childhood cancer outcomes worldwide will require more than scientific discovery. It will require connection, shared knowledge, and making sure more voices have a seat at the table.
