“I was invited by the Journal of Geriatric Oncology (SIOG – International Society of Geriatric Oncology ) to act as a peer reviewer for a study on prehabilitation in elderly patients undergoing oncological surgery.
The theme speaks directly to what I have been structuring since 2012 in perioperative care in oncology: first in São Paulo and today working nationally in the management of care in oncological surgery, always with accelerated recovery protocols and lines of care for the elderly patient as a central axis.
Habilitation is a key piece.
Preparing the patient before surgery changes the outcome after surgery.
Reviewing this type of work is a way of maintaining direct contact with the evidence that supports these practices.
