Małgorzata Osmola, The President of the ‘Polki w Medycynie’ Foundation, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“I’m starting postgraduate studies! The ESO cas-GI postgraduate course is an 18-month course of study.
I wondered if it makes “sense” to do postgraduate studies in oncology, after all, 2 years ago I took the European Specialization Exam (ESMO), I have fresh knowledge.
The course lasts 18 months and – as the lecturer said – there is no content in the last modules yet, because knowledge changes so quickly that in 18 months the recommendations may look completely different than now.
This shows how quickly knowledge in oncology is changing and how we need to educate ourselves to provide patient care at the highest level.
It’s great to be a part of this program. It turns out that most of the participants are heads of oncology departments from all over Europe and the world! I’m glad I managed to get on it!
My goal for these studies is primarily networking, meeting specialists from Europe to join forces in creating patient databases (real world data) for my current projects:
- Rare subtypes of pancreatic cancer
- Gaining experience to develop Patient Reported Outcomes”
