Maira Caleffi: 20 Years of Patient Advocacy and Leadership at FEMAMA

Maira Caleffi, Head Breast Cente Department at Hospital Moinhos de Vento, shared on LinkedIn:

“20 years ago, a dream began to take shape.

FEMAMA was born from the conviction that no woman should face breast cancer without access to information and the defense of her rights. Today, as I celebrate these two decades of history, my heart is filled with gratitude.

I am deeply honored to have founded FEMAMA and to have dedicated almost 20 years of my life to its construction as a Volunteer President. There were years of hard work, challenges, learning and achievements. But, above all, they were years guided by the certainty that together we could transform lives.

If today FEMAMA is a national reference in the defense of patients and in the construction of public policies for the control of breast cancer, this is the result of the commitment of many people who believed in this cause from day one. I am very proud to see it today in the hands of a strong Board of Directors and a Scientific Council, committed to our mission, under the leadership of Dr. Luiz Ayrton Santos Junior.

I continue alongside FEMAMA, now as a member of the Board of Directors, with the same enthusiasm and conviction that moved me 20 years ago. My gratitude to each associate and especially to each patient who inspired us to never give up.”
