Maimah Karmo, President and CEO of Tigerlily Foundation, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“I never set out to become a social media influencer.
That was never the plan.
The plan was simply to survive. To find healing. To make sure that no one facing cancer would ever have to feel as alone, unheard, or invisible as so many patients do.
Today, I am deeply honored to be recognized by OncoDaily as one of the Top 100 Cancer Influencers on Social Media. This recognition isn’t about followers or algorithms. It’s about purpose.
I’ve learned that our greatest trials can become our greatest testimonies – if we’re willing to keep moving forward. But even as we move toward our own healing and purpose, we have a responsibility to turn around and reach back. To pull others out of the fire. To remind them they are seen, they are worthy, and they don’t have to walk alone.
Every story shared. Every patient empowered. Every life touched. Every barrier broken. Every conversation that leads to earlier detection, better treatment, equitable care, or hope – that is the real reward.
This recognition belongs to every patient, survivor, care partner, advocate, clinician, researcher, and partner who has walked alongside me and the Tigerlily Foundation. Together, we’ve proven that lived experience is powerful, that advocacy changes systems, and that one voice can inspire thousands more.
Thank you, OncoDaily, for this incredible honor. And to anyone walking through a difficult season: don’t underestimate what can grow from the hardest chapters of your life. Your pain may become someone else’s pathway to hope. Your story may be the light that helps someone else find their way.
Keep going. Someone is waiting for the testimony that only you can tell.”
