Maharshi Trivedi, Associate Professor, Pediatric Hematology Oncology and BMT at The Gujarat Cancer and Research Institute, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Honored to participate in the Indian Childhood Cancer Initiative (ICCI) National Stakeholder Workshop on Childhood Cancer in New Delhi under the theme:
‘The Pediatric Cancer Convergence: Bridging Policy, Care and Lived Experience to Achieve the WHO Global Initiative for Childhood Cancer (GICC) Goal 2030.’
As a past Co-Chair of the Drugs and Diagnostics Taskforce and a pediatric hemato-oncologist representing Gujarat, it was a privilege to contribute to discussions focused on improving outcomes for children with cancer across India.
The workshop brought together more than 100 stakeholders, including representatives from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MOHFW), Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), healthcare professionals, technical experts, civil society organizations, survivor advocates, and partners from across the country Leimapokpam Swasticharan, CanKids KidsCan, Access Life Assistance Foundation, Cuddles Foundation.
One message resonated throughout the meeting: it truly takes a village to treat a child with cancer. Achieving the WHO GICC target of 60% survival for children with cancer by 2030 will require sustained collaboration across policy makers, healthcare systems, researchers, patient advocacy groups, civil society, and healthcare providers.
Encouraged by the collective commitment and shared vision demonstrated at the workshop. Together, we can make equitable, high-quality childhood cancer care a reality for every child in India.”
