Lusine Harutyunyan, Hematologist, R1 Researcher at Yeolyan Hematology and Oncology Center, and Adjunct Researcher at Immune Oncology Research Institute, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“The case report article I recently reviewed on Primary Plasma Cell Leukemia is now available in open access.
Rare diseases are an interesting field of focus. It is always challenging to recognize these conditions, confirm the diagnosis, overcome skepticism because ‘it’s too rare,’ and make sure patients are integrated into the best available cancer care.
In rare diseases, recommendations, guidelines, and treatment options often do not fully meet all patient needs. That is why research is so important, even if, because of the limited sample size, it is most often presented as case reports. It helps us better understand these disorders and improve future management strategies. In this case, chemotherapy combined with allogeneic transplantation showed promise as a potential treatment approach.”
