Lisa A. Lacasse, President of the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network (ACS CAN), shared a post on LinkedIn:
“This is a major win in the fight against cancer: Today, Congress passed the FY26 appropriations bill which reinforces that cancer remains a national priority.
In addition to bolstering funding for cancer research and prevention programs, the bill also creates a pathway for Medicare coverage of new screening innovations through multi-cancer early detection (MCED) tests once they have been approved by the FDA and clinical benefit is shown. This exciting new technology, once approved and shown to be effective, can be a game-changer for diagnosing cancer in its earliest, most treatable stages.
The American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network (ACS CAN) is grateful to members of Congress for prioritizing cancer issues in this bill. Congress has shown its continued, bipartisan commitment to leading the world in the fight against cancer.
I’m so proud of ACS CAN’s community of cancer advocates who worked tirelessly and joined together to help make this happen. Your advocacy helped deliver real progress for cancer patients today, and for years to come.”
