Liang Cheng, President, The International Society of Urological Pathology (ISUP), shared on LinkedIn about a recent article he and colleagues authored:
“Happy Friday! I am delighted to share an article published today in European Urology by Irbaz Riaz, Rodolfo Montironi.
Promise of Genomic AI Tools in Precision Oncology.
While genomic classifiers have provided valuable prognostic information and influenced treatment discussions in selected settings, most evidence so far comes from retrospective and observational studies rather than fully completed prospective or randomized trials.
Similarly, histopathology-only AI offers a parallel pathway – with the potential to expand access to prognostic insights using standard H&E slides.
The key lesson from both fields is clear: enthusiasm must be balanced by rigorous, prospective, and practice-representative validation. Only then can these genomic and AI tools transition from promising adjuncts to trusted clinical guides.”
