“Dear Colleagues:
The International Society of Urological Pathology (ISUP) Multidisciplinary Expert Consultation Conference on Treatment Effects of Prostate and Bladder Cancer was held on September 11, 2025, at the historic Josephinum Museum in Vienna, immediately following the 37th European Congress of Pathology (ECP). I am delighted to share that this meeting was an overwhelming success.
We were honored to welcome participants from more than 20 countries across the globe, reflecting the truly international reach of our society. The spirit of collegiality and collaboration was palpable throughout the day. The program was highly interactive, encouraging the open exchange of ideas, thoughtful debate, and the renewal of long-standing professional connections. Most importantly, the meeting laid a strong foundation for the development of future guidelines and identified key research priorities that will shape the field in years to come.
I am especially grateful to our working group chairs – Drs. Michelle Downes, Antonio López-Beltrán, Gladell Paner, and Alessia Cimadamore – as well as our Conference Co-Chair, Dr. Geert van Leenders – for their vision, dedication, and leadership in developing such an exceptional program. Their efforts, together with those of our internationally renowned multidisciplinary working group members, ensured that the scientific content was both comprehensive and impactful.
This meeting would not have been possible without the tireless commitment of colleagues who worked diligently behind the scenes to ensure its success. My heartfelt thanks go to Drs. Katrina Collins, Nancy Greenland, Alessia Cimadamore, and Michelle Downes, who devoted tremendous time and energy to preparing every detail. I am also deeply indebted to Dr. Shahrokh F. Shariat for his generous logistical support and warm hospitality in Vienna.
Looking back on this event, I feel truly privileged to be part of such an extraordinary and inspiring genitourinary pathology community. The vibrant discussions and meaningful collaborations we shared in Vienna are only the beginning of an exciting journey. I am confident that these partnerships and collaborations will continue to flourish, fueling innovation, shaping the future of our field, and ultimately improving the lives of patients with GU cancers
With sincere gratitude to all who contributed, I look forward to seeing you again next year in Stockholm at the 2026 ECP.
Warm regards,
Liang Cheng, MD, MS
