Leora Horn: Why Listening to Patients Is Essential to Better Clinical Trials

Leora Horn, SVP, Late Development Oncology at AstraZeneca, shared a post on LinkedIn:

“As a former clinical trial investigator, I have seen firsthand the significant pressures placed on patients, investigators and sites throughout a clinical trial. Our teams at AstraZeneca are working to ensure clinical trials work for everyone that touches them while accelerating the delivery of potentially life-changing therapies to patients who need them most.

Translating the growing complexity of trials into better outcomes for patients hinges on our ability to make the process smoother and more accessible across the entire clinical ecosystem. In a three-part series, I’ll be sharing how AstraZeneca’s patient-centric approach optimizes for inclusion, efficiency and innovation to help deliver better experiences and outcomes for patients and trial teams alike.

At its foundation, our ability to bring cutting-edge cancer research forward is directly tied to our ability to partner with and listen to patients and providers. I am so grateful for their partnership and dedication - without it, no future research or therapeutic breakthroughs would exist.

You can read more about how our teams are doing our part to improve the process in ways that are most meaningful to patients here. I would also love to hear what changes you have seen, or would like to see, that make the biggest difference for trial teams and patients.”
