“Two Countries, One Goal: Eliminating Cervical Cancer Ahead of WHO’s Global Targets
Yesterday, we were honored to welcome Ambassador Karin Tegmark Wisell, the Swedish Ambassador of Global Health, to our women’s cancer screening program in Rwanda.
Our visit highlighted the power of partnership and local leadership:
- Meeting with the district leadership driving Mission2027
- Visiting a local health center to see women confidently using self-sample HPV kits
- Touring the HPV laboratory built by our Swedish partner Gynius Plus AB, where high-throughput processing turns fast results into timely follow-up.
Sweden aims to eliminate cervical cancer by 2027, and Rwanda is pursuing the same ambition through Mission2027.
Two countries, one shared vision: no woman should die from a preventable cancer.
In the evening, I joined the Swedish Embassy event, celebrating the deep and growing collaboration between Sweden and Rwanda.
Did you know Sweden has supported 100 Rwandan PhD students through long-term academic and research partnerships? A remarkable investment in people and future leadership.
As a Swedish NGO, we’re proud to be part of a movement where global solidarity meets local action, ensuring women’s health truly comes first.”
