Lacy Hubbard, President and CEO of Elekta Foundation, shared on LinkedIn:
“Today I had the privilege of joining the Unitaid side event: ‘Advancing women’s health: leveraging innovative financing and partnerships’ at the Yale Club during UNGA in New York.
Rwanda’s Minister of Health, Dr. Sabin Nsanzimana, spoke about Mission2027, saying that ‘when others see what Rwanda is achieving, they will join too.’ As the Elekta Foundation, the main partner in this mission, I could not be prouder to see Rwanda’s leadership inspiring the global community.
Spain and Brazil also shared their experiences, and the Global Financing Facility (GFF) explained how their support mechanisms drive progress.
Karen Nakawala, cervical cancer survivor and founder of the Teal Sisters Foundation, shared her story. It was touching and a powerful reminder that this is not just about policies or numbers. It’s about women’s lives.
The event closed with remarks from Dr. Duneton Philippe, highlighting Unitaid’s powerful commitment to eliminating cervical cancer. What an inspiring call to action!
I left feeling energized because eliminating cervical cancer not only requires operational excellence, it also needs innovative financing and cross-sector partnerships. Together, we can make it happen.”
