Lacy Hubbard: Mission 2027 Update – Nearly 300,000 Women Screened for Cervical Cancer in Rwanda
Lacy Hubbard, President and CEO of Elekta Foundation, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Mission 2027 Update
Together with Rwanda Biomedical Centre (RBC – the Ministry of Health’s implementing agency) and our partners, we have screened nearly 300,000 women for cervical cancer in Rwanda and provided preventive treatment to more than 5,500 women in just three years.
Mission 2027 is Rwanda’s bold national initiative to achieve cervicalcancerelimination targets by 2027, three years ahead of the World Health Organization global goal. With the Elekta Foundation as a major partner and driving force in screening, the districts in dark green have already surpassed the 70% target. This moves us closer to the vision to:
Turn all 30 districts dark green on the coverage map by 2027.
This week, we kicked off in Kirehe and Ngoma districts with Partners In Health and WHO Rwanda. I’m always energized by the commitment of the Minister of Health’s leadership and local leaders. Together, they are the foundation of our success.
The journey continues, and we are showing the world that elimination is not just a target but a reality within reach.”
