Kristen Dahlgren, Chief External Affairs Officer at Parker Institute for Cancer Immunotherapy, shared on LinkedIn:
“It’s always strange to me when I am referred to as a ‘celebrity,’ but I’m grateful for a platform that allows me to help people, whether it’s sharing signs of cancer and what to look for (in short: get screened but also know your body and ask a doc about any changes!) or now educating people about better cancer treatments on the horizon through my work Parker Institute for Cancer Immunotherapy .
After my diagnosis, my doc warned me about doing too much, and becoming known as the poster child for cancer.
That’s not how I see myself either. Quite simply, I am like everyone else on this planet – impacted, in some way, by this disease. If we all speak up, lean in, and insist on better maybe there’s a day when none of us will be on a list like this!”
