Korede Akindele, Chief Operating Officer at The Dorcas Cancer Foundation shared a post on LinkedIn:
“The World Health Organization Global Status Report on Cancer 2026 is more than another global health publication. For those of us working alongside children and adolescents with cancer, their families, survivors, healthcare professionals, researchers, and advocates, it is both a progress report and a call to action.
While the report examines the global cancer landscape across all cancer types, its messages strongly resonate with the Childhood and Adolescent and Young Adult (CAYA) cancer community. It validates many of the challenges we have long advocated around from delayed diagnosis and inequitable access to treatment to the financial burden carried by families and the need for stronger health systems.
Perhaps most importantly, the report reminds us that the future of cancer care will not be defined only by scientific breakthroughs, but by our collective ability to implement what we already know works.”
