Kevin Harrington on New Strategies for Non-HPV Head and Neck Cancer

Kevin Harrington, Professor in Biological Cancer Therapies at Institute of Cancer Research, shared a post on LinkedIn:

“Yesterday, I was very pleased to participate in an event to discuss ‘Beyond the Virus: New Strategies to Improve Outcomes of Non-HPV-Associated Recurrent/Metastatic Head and Neck Cancer’ in conjunction with the 2026 Multidisciplinary Head and Neck Cancers Symposium at Palm Desert, California.

I shared a platform with Professor Trish Wise-Draper, Professor Christine Chung and Professor Renata Ferrarotto – three leading lights of head and neck oncology from UC Health Cincinnati, Moffitt Cancer Centre and the MD Anderson Cancer Centre, respectively.

We explored the emerging paradigm that patients with HPV-related and HPV-unrelated recurrent/metastatic head and neck cancer should receive tailored treatment approaches based on specific and targetable biological differences between these separate disease entities.

Specifically, we examined new opportunities to use epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR)-targeted approaches to deliver benefit in HPV-unrelated cancers.

With thanks to the team at Peer Voice for making such excellent arrangements for the event, which was very well attended despite the fact that it was late on a Friday afternoon with glorious weather poolside.”
