Kevin Harrington, Professor in Biological Cancer Therapies at the Institute of Cancer Research, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Last week at the FHNO meeting in Bangalore, I was honoured to give the R.M. Tiwari Oration in memory of the founding father of the Foundation.
Professor Ram Mohan Tiwari was a giant in the field of surgery for head and neck cancer, who practised in India, UK and the Netherlands during his illustrious career. During my preparations for the lecture, I was delighted to learn that he had published on larynx-preserving radiotherapy more than a decade before the practice-changing Veterans’ Administration trial.
My own presentation was entitled ‘Learning from Successes and Failures on the Road to Integrating Radiotherapy and Immunotherapy in Head and Neck Cancer’ and sought to build on this theme of improving outcomes for patients.
With my grateful thanks to FHNO for the great honour of delivering this talk, for the privilege of being made an Honorary Life Member and for all their wonderful hospitality and discussions during my stay in Bangalore.”
