Kavita Dharmarajan: The Power of Sponsorship and Mentorship in Academic Medicine

Kavita Dharmarajan, Professor of Radiation Oncology, Geriatrics & Palliative Medicine at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, shared a post on LinkedIn:

“One week ago, I graduated from the Executive Leadership in Academic Medicine program alongside these three amazing women – Lauren Peccoralo, Alexis Z, and Helen Fernandez. It meant a great deal that our sponsors David Reich, Brendan G. Carr, David C. Thomas and Monica Kraft traveled from NYC to celebrate with us on this special day. I am especially and deeply grateful to Eric J. Nestler for his unwavering support, mentorship, and sponsorship. His sustained belief in my growth and in the importance of developing physician leaders has been profoundly impactful.

Thank you Nancy D. Spector, Sara Jo Grethlein, and Erika T. Brown for expertly guiding us all through such a transformative year, and to the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai for its continued investment in cultivating leaders equipped to navigate all types of terrain encountered in academic medicine today, and tomorrow. We find a way!

ELAM/ELH has strengthened my commitment to leading across disciplines, building community, advancing innovation, and improving value in complex health systems. I’m excited to bring back new perspectives and tools to help move this work forward and to support the next generation of leaders.”
