“The pause of the 340B rebate pilot is an important moment, but it shouldn’t be mistaken for the end of the conversation.
The 340B program was created to stretch federal resources and expand access to care for underserved, underinsured, and uninsured patients. That original intent matters now more than ever, as patients rising insurance costs, access barriers, and increasing complexity in care delivery.
At the same time, it’s clear that the 340B program has drifted from its roots. A meaningful path forward required thoughtful reform – one that required transparency, accountability, and alignment with patient benefit, not market distortions or unintended financial incentives.
