Kathy Giusti on Teamwork, Innovation and the Future of Cancer Treatment – NFCR

National Foundation for Cancer Research (NFCR) shared a post on LinkedIn:

What does it actually take to change the survival trajectory of a cancer? Kathy Giusti knows firsthand.

Diagnosed with multiple myeloma at 37 and given three years to live, she didn’t just fight the disease – she rebuilt the system around it. As founder of the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation – MMRF, Kathy pioneered a collaborative model that brought together academia, industry, the FDA, and patients to accelerate drug development in a way the nonprofit world had never seen before.

The result: five-year survival rates for multiple myeloma have risen from 32% to 62%. Fifteen-plus therapies approved. A blueprint for what’s possible when urgency drives strategy.

In our latest episode of All Things Cancer, NFCR President and CEO Dr. Sujuan Ba sits down with Kathy to discuss her book Fatal to Fearless, the funding models that changed oncology, and why curing cancer will always be a team effort.
