“I want to draw attention to this pair of papers recently published in JCO Global Oncology.  Although the submissions were unrelated, the original manuscript is complimented by a first-person narrative that highlights how female cancer patients may confront financial burdens, lack of awareness, and unspoken societal norms that devalue girls and women.

Together, they insightfully discuss how subtle gender bias can impact a young person’s life following a cancer diagnosis in India.
